5 Tips to Better Your Daily Routine

blog post 10.24I don’t know about you but I am SO unorganized! With five classes, a job, and an internship, it is hard to keep track of everything going on in my life. Some of you may be able to relate to me, some may have it worse. It’s easy to get overwhelmed by trying to maintain a social life along with everything else. I’ve learned some useful tips and tricks this past year and I’d like to share them with you.

  1. Write in a scheduler.

I wouldn’t be able to live without my scheduler! Get a small one with enough pages for the entire year. Make sure it has space for you to make a list of things you have to get done each day. The best part, checking your tasks off once you finish them. It is so rewarding to check off your tasks throughout the day, trust me.

  1. Get out of bed at the same time every day.

Do you ever wonder why you always feel exhausted when you wake up? Maybe your sleep schedule is fluctuating too much. I am guilty of this. Some days I have to wake up by 8, and sometimes I have to wake up by noon. When I have to wake up by noon, I sleep until noon. What I should be doing is waking up at 8 or 9 every day. Try to train your body to go to bed and wake up at the same time every day. It’ll become easier because your body will naturally become tired at the same time each night. This will be good for your health and productivity along with making you less tired during the day.

  1. Don’t forget to eat!

It may sound crazy, but so many of us forget to eat sometimes. Our schedules are so jampacked that eating becomes less important to us. It shouldn’t. Studies have shown that eating an apple can wake you up more than a cup of coffee. Have you ever heard of the slang term “Hangry”? It’s a real thing. Give yourself enough time in the morning to make yourself breakfast so you don’t go to work or school “hangry”! If you don’t have time in the morning, prepare your meals the night before! Who doesn’t love to eat, right?

  1. Spend time alone.

I am a strong believer in the importance of alone time. We are surrounded by people all day and some of those people make us realize that we need a break from reality. Go do something you enjoy, by yourself. My favorite thing to do alone is listen to music and take a walk. Music takes you away from reality and helps you forget the things that stress you out in life. Alone time is also a good time to gather your thoughts about yourself. It’s important to think about your life and make sure you are in the state of mind that you want to be in.

  1. Put your phone down!

Smartphones are STRESSFUL. A lot of the time we spend on our smartphones is spent looking at what other people are doing during their day. We are constantly comparing ourselves to others when we are on social media. Put your phone down for a few hours each day and appreciate what you have in your own life.
